Lewis Lemuel Sawler

SAWLER, Lewis Lemuel - 77, Western Shore, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, April 17, 2002, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Western Shore, he was a son of the late Arthur Sr. and Susan (Kaizer) Sawler. In his younger years he had worked as a cooper and then a carpenter, working on the building of the Gold River Bridge. He had also worked for a time with National Sea Products. Prior to his retirement he had spent thirteen years as a bookbinder at the Public Archives, Halifax. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having been enlisted in the Canadian Army. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed music and played the bass guitar. He is survived by his wife, Linda Mary (Harvie); daughters Juanita (Walter) Pierce, Lower Sackville; Annette Sawler (Allan Black), Halifax; Christine Hoskins, Lower Sackville; Jackie (Denis) Gilbert, Newburne; Lurinda Sawler (Scott Kaizer), Gold River; sons, Michael Sawler (Linda Jonnson), Bridgewater; Jonathan Sawler, at home; sisters, Doris Hirtle, Martin's Point; Shirley (Wally) Hopkins, Lockeport; Lola (Charlie) Rafuse, Martin's Point; Lois (Rev. Jack) Hooper, New Elm; Bonnie (Gordon) Bremner, Chester; brother, Rev. Arthur (Bonnie) Sawler, Prince George, B.C.; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
